Music Video Analysis

Music Video Notes (2)

POSTMODERNISM: A mix and match aesthetic taking influences from different genres the appearance is as important, maybe even more important than the meaning behind. Blurring of time and space non-linear narratives breaking the fourth wall INTERTEXTUALITY is when deliberate references are made to different media products.  The music video is only understood if the reference is understood, Mixing fantasy and reality (simulacra - Baudrillard)  GOODWIN'S FRAMEWORK ANALYSIS: Think of the authorage Basically the star, the author of the video. The way they present themselves Authorage implies that the artist literally stamps their own visual style onto the music video. This makes them more recognisable to the audience. Establishes the representation of the artist; their sexuality,  dress sense, beliefs and values. Authorage can ADD to the star quality. Ariana Grande is an example of this  GOODWIN'S FRAMEWORK OF ANALYSIS: Goodwin (1993) also suggested tha

Theories + The Big Issue

BARTHES + SEMIOTICS: Denotation - What you see or hear. The physical thing. Connotation -  What it means. The meaning behind it. Anchorage - It holds down the meaning, fixes it. Not all media products have this though. Helps us represent who/what is represented. HALL AND IDEOLOGY: Ideology is a set of ideas that help us make meaning of the world.  Hall says that dominant ideology is important and the media should reflect this dominant ideology. Dominant ideology are those beliefs shared by most people in a society or culture.  Consumerism; buying stuff makes us happy. Nuclear family.  Some artefacts are polysemic. Jungle Book Exam Essay

In this Essay I will explain the differences in production, distribution and circulation between Jungle Book 1967 & Jungle Book 2016. I will be comparing the process of making and releasing the two Jungle Book films. Looking at production for the 1976 version story boarding was key. Walt Disney looked at the cast and based the characters around the cast members. For example the character of Baloo was meant to have more of a minor part but Walt thought that the actor playing him (Phil Harris) was too good so he made the Baloo appear more than he should've. Disney stuck to their traditional animation style in the 1967 version whereas in the 2016 version it was much more darker, as they wanted to appeal to a more older audience. CGI was used to make the animals look more realistic rather than the cute and soft animals that appeared in the 1967 version. The 2016 version was directed by Jon Favreau, it does have a lot of the humor from the 67' version and a majority of the ori

How would you structure and write your answer? 1) Being asked to give the differences between the 1967 version and 2016 version of Jungle Book, in terms of production, distribution and circulation.
