MARKETING - To sell a product.

Distribution:

  • Distributors can acquire a film for a fee and then gain rights to sell the movie.
  • Have to market your film so people know about.
  • Distributors need to spend loads on marketing so they make loads at the box office. 
What is the money spent on?
  • Media (Pre-Opening), Majority of the money will be spent before the opening. This is because it is important to obtain hype so more people would see this.

Actors doing promotional interviews etc.

TV Spend
  • This is the biggest cost when it comes to distributing a film
  • In the UK a 30 second commercial at peak time can be £10,000 - £30,000.
  • In the USA the biggest one would be commercials during the superbowl.
