  • Fans follow their object of admiration sometimes obsessively or blindly. 
  • Henry Jenkins is an influential Media theorist. 
  • Media 2.0 = Media post 2000, media that requires wifi connectivity
  • Web 2.0 = Interactive Nature, user generated content.
  • Jenkins is interested in the online world, media 2.0.
  • His 1992 book called Textual Poachers: Television Fans and Participatory Culture, the poacher part meaning the fans steal the story, they don't just watch they take part. They do something with it.
  • Textual Poachers can write stories
  • Storyworlds extend narratives, they can present things such as fanfiction or video tributes.
  • Participatory Culture in which audiences are active and creative consumers rather than passive consumers.
  • Jenkins describe the collaborative audience interaction as collective intelligence.

  • In Minecraft you can change our character's skin to your favourite actor or celebrity etc. 
  • Filming quests by gamers and uploading them to youtube.
  • Actual minecraft fanfictions on wattpad. 
  • Creating customised challenges and sharing them on blogs/forums or maybe even film them and put them on youtube.
  • Intertextual poaching / There is a hunger games mod on minecraft where players can play the actual hunger games.
  • Deviantart fanart for minecraft.
  • Amino Apps for fans.
  • Minecon
  • Minecraft camp
Transmedia learning - children are obsessed with phones and technology, teachers may suggest to use their phones during the lesson as a part of learning.
