How does the Radio One Breakfast Show reach it's audience?
The Radio One Breakfast Show is a radio show which airs from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM during the week, not airing on the weekends. The show's target audience are 15-29-year-olds. But the show's presenter is actually 32.
I feel as if the fact that the presenter is older than the target audience is only to prevent the show from doing immature things etc. By having an older host they'll know what to do and what not to do. Something that I realized is that the Radio One Breakfast show are aware that they do have an older audience listening so to keep the older audience they play older songs at times the younger audience might not be listening for example at 11:30 am they played songs like Genie in a Bottle and Block rockin' beats. The younger audience would not be listening at that time due to the fact that they have school, so no access to radio. But earlier in the show they played popular songs such as Breathin' by Ariana Grande around times like 7am, during this time the younger audience would be heading to school.
One method that the Radio One Breakfast show use to reach their audience is taking calls from the audience, most commercial radio shows do this though but during this episode they had a special guest, Lloyd Griffith who took calls from the audience and due to the fact that Lloyd Griffith is a comedian, he added some humour to these calls. They were then aired on the show in its later segments.
Another method the Radio One breakfast show to do reach its audience is that they have a segment called '' ten-minute takeover'' this is where they let the audience take over the radio show and send in requests. This does well in following the BBC's rule of endorsing British culture, as they're letting their audience; who are mainly British, decide what they want to listen to.
The show also follows pop culture, as they mention the teen awards a lot, this grabs the attention of the teen part of their target audience. They also play music from popular bands amongst teens for example they played a song from an ex-one direction member.
In conclucion the Radio One Breakfast show has many ways of attracting a younger audience, they even have an app called the BBC Sounds app, as they know many of today's youth spend their time mostly on phones the app would be key in attracting a younger audience.

This is rather short, but succinct, you make good points in terms of identifying who the desired target audience is and who actually listens and when! Tying in to some well made illustrations of how the show reaches the audience. Room for a bit more detail, more examples and maybe link to the remit etc.
